Robert Mickey Maughon

Robert Mickey Maughon is a physician with a storyteller’s heart.

Born and raised in Tennessee, Dr. Maughon grew up breathing the same air as the legend he would one day write about. The rhythms of the South, the echoes of rock ‘n’ roll, and the complicated beauty of his homeland all find their way into his fiction. Before picking up the pen, he spent years in emergency rooms and medical examiners’ offices, witnessing the fragile line between life and death, a perspective that infuses his writing with authenticity and emotional depth.

What began as a single question grew into something much larger.

When Dr. Maughon first asked himself, “What if Elvis walked away from it all?” he had no idea he was embarking on a multi-book journey. The characters refused to stay silent between covers. The story demanded room to breathe, to wander, to follow these lives wherever they led. Across three editions and countless revisions, the world of this series has expanded organically, each installment revealing new layers of the mystery and deeper dimensions of the man at its center.

He writes the way a doctor listens: with patience, with curiosity, and with a deep respect for the stories people carry.

Readers of the series find themselves swept up in prose that moves like a conversation, unhurried yet purposeful. The dialogue crackles with authenticity, whether two characters are sharing coffee in a Parisian cafe or wrestling with life-altering decisions under the Mediterranean moon. Dr. Maughon has a gift for making you feel like you are right there in the room, invisible but welcome. Each book stands on its own while weaving into a larger tapestry of friendship, redemption, and the enduring power of a legend.

Today, he divides his time between medicine and writing, still practicing the art of healing while crafting stories that heal in a different way.

He lives in Tennessee, not far from the roads Elvis once traveled, with a family who remind him daily that the greatest stories are the ones we live together. When he is not seeing patients or working on the next installment of the series, you might find him exploring the backroads of the South or booking passage on a train bound somewhere mysterious, always searching for the next story waiting to be told.

The journey continues across multiple books, because some legends are too big for just one story.
